Bedroom wall

IMGP2067.jpg, originally uploaded by berkeleygal77.

They've taken out all the plaster and "stuff" (yes, that is a technical term), and this is the bedroom wall. Eventually, they'll be putting in new insulation, new electrical wires, and 5/8" sheetrock.  Please note the amazing quality of the wood - it is the original from 97 years ago!

This one is 50 feet long!

This is a fifty foot long steel I-Beam!  It's in my house!!  I just wish I'd been there when they brought it in.

They brought in the I-beams today!  Here you see the wooden posts that are used in a "Lincoln Log" like fashion to support the end and middle of the I-beams.

Not too much in the way of a floor, but you can see the supports in this shot.

Me in House

This picture was taken this past Sunday. As you can see, there is still a floor to stand on...  I'll take guesses as to what I was gesturing about, because I don't remember.

What to Give as a Response

I am proud of my house. Therefore I've told a lot of people about the house.  Therefore all those people are asking "When will the house be done?" and "How long will the renovations take?"  My contractor says by the end of January.  One of my relatives says six months.  I say "I don't know."  So the official answer: "It will be done when it's done."  Until then, there will be entries and occasional pictures.

The downstairs kitchen before construction

The downstairs kitchen, originally uploaded by quixote206.

Welcome to the blog

This will be a blog where I chronicle the adventures and missteps involved in renovating a 97 year old house.  There will be periodic construction updates and frequent photos, too.
